Need information about robotics and majoring in physics/mathematics/engineering

Hi,
I am interested in pursuing research in robotics, artificial intelligence, that sort of thing. I know that u able do that if u do engineering in electronics and then choose robotics for MTech or MS. But I also have an option of joining IISER and pursuing an integrated M.S. course (B.S + M.S) on either Physics/Mathematics. I wanted to know whether I able apply for higher education in robotics (Phd?) After the I do a M.S. in physics/mathematics?

Also do note that I am asking this in reference to education in India and also other places, like the U.S or the U.K? So if its not possible in India, but possible elsewhere, do let me know.
