Biscuit tins: your greatest defense against industrial espionage?

We don't know what your daily grind is like, but we're constantly warding off the ever-present threat of industrial espionage. For whatever reason, here's something we've yet to try: the ordinary household biscuit tin. Word has is that the thin, metal baked goods holder is great for keeping the eyes of potential saboteurs away from your secret-storing mobile devices. AFP is reporting that executives at a German chemical company have begun carrying their phones around in the boxes to protect them from the sorts of electromagnetic radiation used to steal valuable information from the handsets. No word on how many of the devices involved are running Gingerbread or similar pastry-based operating systems.

Pope praises Jesus in first Twitter message (AFP)

VATICAN CITY (AFP) ? Pope Benedict XVI wrote a message on Twitter on Tuesday praising Jesus and announcing the launch of a new Vatican website in the first "tweet" by a leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

"Dear Friends, I just launched www.news.va. Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus XVI," wrote the pope, using his formal name in Latin -- the Vatican's official language.

The Vatican has embraced social media in recent months, launching popular Facebook and YouTube pages and courting bloggers as it tries to get the Church's message out to a wider and more youthful audience.

The Church also used a website to receive notifications of purported miracles attributed to late pope John Paul II and is launching an e-learning initiative to address the problem of child abuse by priests.

The news.va web portal is set to be formally launched on Wednesday.

It will provide news and pictures from the Vatican's radio and television stations and its official newspaper, Osservatore Romano.

The portal will initially be in English and Italian with plans to include a third language, probably Spanish, after the summer.

AP IMPACT: Questions arise over FBI terror profile (AP)

LONDON ? The FBI's most-wanted list features a dated black-and-white photograph for the man wanted in connection with the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Tanzania and Kenya. Saif al-Adel, reads the glaring red banner, alias Muhammad Ibrahim Makkawi.

But intelligence officials and people who say they know al-Adel and Makkawi tell The Associated Press that they are two different men.

In the wake of Osama bin Laden's death, AP reporters around the globe began hunting for fresh details on al-Adel ? al-Qaida's so-called third man because of his strategic military experience. Traversing a reporting trail that spanned from Europe to Egypt and from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, a new picture started to emerge about the al-Adel investigation: that the FBI's manhunt dragged in the name of a one-time jihadist turned vocal al-Qaida critic who now can't get his name off the wanted list.

Intelligence officials from five countries and a handful of sources who say they knew the men personally over the years confirmed to the AP that al-Adel and Makkawi were two distinct people. Some of those sources came forward with two photographs that show two different men.

"That is certainly not Makkawi," Montasser el-Zayat, a lawyer who represented Makkawi in Egypt, told the AP after looking at the FBI's photo of al-Adel.

In emails seen by the AP, a man who identifies himself as Makkawi says he has tried several times to clear his name but to no avail.

In response to several questions, the FBI declined specific comment last week on whether it was possible the information it had been using was bad or dated. However, on Wednesday the FBI defended its characterization of al-Adel.

"It is fair to say that a.k.a.'s/alias known to the FBI and used by subjects listed on our Most Wanted site or for that matter for any individual being sought by law enforcement, can also be the names of true individuals," said FBI spokeswoman Kathleen R. Wright.

She said the FBI was confident the man on the poster was al-Adel, but offered no immediate redress for Makkawi over the possible use of his name on the poster.

"The distinction in this case is such that we have a photo and other identifiers that distinguish one individual from another," Wright said in an email.

She said al-Adel, like other suspects on the 'most wanted' list, was indicted by a U.S. grand jury. However, the original documents in al-Adel's case remain sealed, making it all but impossible for the public to see where the FBI obtained its original evidence or the basic details about al-Adel's identity.

The description of al-Adel highlights the questionable intelligence that often goes into profiles of top suspects by the world's intelligence services.

Many of the profiles are based on information obtained from captives under duress or worse. Some bits come from unreliable sources. Other tips are never verified.

On the surface, some may ask why the world should care ? one man is a jihadist with a $5 million bounty on his head; the other a former jihadist turned al-Qaida critic. But the case raises a number of important questions about the accuracy of FBI profiles and how stale or misleading intelligence could hamper searches. Even with fairly good leads, it took U.S. authorities more than a decade to find bin Laden.

Al-Adel's profile, for example, was posted in October 2001 when the FBI "Most Wanted Terrorist" list was created ? just a month after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Although some of the descriptive details may be old, the FBI says the details are still accurate and relevant.

"We have no information there have been any significant errors regarding the individuals in which we are seeking the public's assistance in locating," the FBI said.

Yet since 9/11, dozens of people have been wrongly mistaken for suspected terrorists because of faulty or spotty intelligence.

A German man snatched by the CIA in Macedonia and tortured at a secret prison in Afghanistan is suing Macedonia for his ordeal after U.S. courts rejected his case on the grounds that it could reveal government secrets. The man says he was kidnapped from Macedonia in 2003, apparently mistaken for a terror suspect.

A Canadian engineer who was also caught up in the U.S. government's secret transfer of terror suspects to ghost sites was deported to Syria when he was mistaken for a terrorist as he changed planes in New York on his way home. The Supreme Court refused to hear his case against top Bush administration officials.

"You are going to have good intelligence and bad intelligence, but the problem is when that bad intelligence is used to charge and detain people or to build cases against others," said Ben Wizner, the attorney for Khaled el-Masri, the German who was sent to a secret prison and, according to Wizner, has suffered because of the trauma. "This faulty intelligence and disregard for the legal process has damaged and disrupted the lives of innocent people."

It is unclear exactly how Makkawi's life has been affected. The former Egyptian army officer who worked in a counterterrorism unit has yet to come forward and did not respond to several emails sent by the AP.

Still, in May a man who identified himself as Makkawi sent a handful of emails to journalists and commentators, saying he had been mistaken for al-Adel. In one email to the pan-Arab newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, which publishes an English edition in London, he claimed he was a colonel in the Egyptian army, has long been an opponent of al-Qaida and other jihadist groups and has been mistaken for al-Adel ever since settling down in Pakistan.

He says he and his family have been branded enemies of both the United States and al-Qaida ? an unenviable position.

In an earlier message to the newspaper in July 2010, the same man criticized al-Qaida and Pakistan: "There is an immoral extortion campaign against the U.S. and its allies and the Islamic movement being led by Pakistan, for its own motives. Pakistan has all of these international terrorists in its hands."

Pakistani authorities have said they have no knowledge of Makkawi's whereabouts.

In a third email sent to a London commentator and seen by the AP, the man said he and his family had survived multiple assassination attempts in Pakistan. He also says he appealed to officials in the Bush administration to clear his name, but without success.

The email is full with basic biographical data ? the man says he graduated from the Egyptian Military Academy in 1972, refused to participate in a war against Libya in 1977 and claims he was eventually viewed as a traitor by Egyptian authorities.

It is easy enough to understand how the FBI might have thought Makkawi was simply an alias for al-Adel.

A tip may have come from a detainee at the U.S. prison camp in Guantanamo Bay, who told investigators he met with a "Muhammad Ibrahim Makkawi, aka (al-Adel)," according to secret documents released by WikiLeaks. Others who say they know both men say al-Adel might intentionally be using Makkawi's name as revenge for Makkawi's pointed criticism of al-Qaida and other jihadist groups.

But photographs provided to the AP by people who say they knew both al-Adel and Makkawi show two different men. The FBI's photo of al-Adel shows a slender man with thin hair, full lips and delicate features; a picture of Makkawi ? which does not appear on the FBI poster ? shows a stout man with a round face, bulbous nose and thick, curly hair.

Noman Benotman, a former jihadist with links to al-Qaida and now an analyst at the London-based Quilliam Foundation, says he has met both al-Adel and Makkawi.

Describing Makkawi as "well-educated, short-fused and unpredictable," Benotman said the last time he saw Makkawi was in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, around 1994.

Benotman said the last time he saw al-Adel was in 2000 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He said he was impressed with his knowledge of military strategy and country profiles.

"The big difference between them is that Makkawi hates al-Qaida, hates these jihadist groups, and in particular hates the Egyptian jihadist groups where Zawahiri came from," said Benotman, referring to the Egyptian eye doctor who has succeeded bin Laden as head of the terror network.

Both al-Adel and Makkawi are Egyptian, reportedly served in the Egyptian army and were accused of links to jihadist groups.

But Makkawi reportedly severed all ties with extremist groups after growing disillusioned with their goals and strategies.

Specializing in counterterrorism operations, Makkawi was one of several army officers accused in 1987 of forming a jihadist group. Although he was released without charge after six months in jail, he was sacked from his army job and struggled to find consistent work afterward. In 1988, he reportedly sued the Egyptian interior ministry and demanded compensation. When the suit failed, he went to see family in Saudi Arabia, then went to Afghanistan, and eventually settled in Pakistan.

Two British officials, who spoke to AP on condition of anonymity because they aren't authorized to discuss intelligence matters, confirmed that Makkawi is a different man from al-Adel and said he is not wanted as a terror suspect by the British government. Britain has no such public "most wanted" terrorist list.

"Makkawi is a different man to el-Adel," one of the officials said.

El-Zayat, Makkawi's lawyer in the 1987 case, also told the AP the men were two different people and that al-Adel's real name is Mohammed Salah Zidan.

There is no mention of the name "Mohammed Salah Zidan" on al-Adel's profile.

Yasser el-Siri, founder of the Islamic Marsad Center in London ? a research center for Islamic and jihadist affairs ? said he met Makkawi in the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca between 1989 and 1990.

He also offered some key differences in the men's lives.

Al-Adel was born in the 1960s, is tall, comes from the Nile Delta and married the daughter of a well-known Egyptian journalist-turned-jihadist, Abouel Walid, who was editor-in-chief of The Islamic Emirate magazine, an extremist publication, el-Siri said. The editor was one of an early generation of jihadists who fought against the Soviets in Afghanistan. Western intelligence officials believe al-Adel is living in Iran but travels frequently to Pakistan and Afghanistan. He was a reservist in the Egyptian army.

Makkawi, who was born in the 1950s, also comes from the Nile Delta but had a Saudi father and Egyptian mother. He graduated from military college in 1972, became a lieutenant and then joined the special forces. He is reportedly short compared al-Adel.

Makkawi joined jihadist groups in Afghanistan but then criticized them for their poor tactics and planning, describing their battles as "the war of the goats."

It is unclear when al-Adel formally joined al-Qaida or an affiliate, but he is thought to be one of the group's most experienced military strategists. Prior to the U.S. Embassy bombings, he allegedly had a hand in operations against U.S. forces who entered Somalia in 1993 in an attempt to capture Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid and some of his top lieutenants. In the end, 18 U.S. troops died in the operation.

On the surface, the truth is still unclear.

The shadowy world of intelligence has long been built on knowns and unknowns, truths and half-truths and spider webs of good, bad and old information that can take years before it is investigated, if at all. New leads often eclipse old information even as that old data lives on.

"Intelligence is a business like anything else," Bob Ayers, a former U.S. intelligence officer, told the AP.

"When the Sept. 11 terror attacks hit, the intelligence community wasn't prepared. It scurried around and it tried to make do. Old leads should and could be followed up if there were enough resources, but it's unlikely you're going to shut your best analysts in a dark room for months just so they can investigate information that is sometimes 10 years old."

Richard Barrett, a U.N. representative responsible for monitoring al-Qaida and the Taliban, also confirmed to the AP that the FBI mistakenly identified al-Adel as Makkawi and ? importantly ? neglected to say on his profile that al-Adel's real name, according to people in the intelligence community, is thought to be Mohammed Salah Zidan.

"We have no information that Makkawi is one of the aliases that Saif is using, so it's a question-mark why that name is on the FBI list," said another European security official speaking on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to talk publicly about the issue.

Officials at Egypt's newly established National Security apparatus, which is now the gatekeeper of all documents and records related to the Islamic jihadists, declined to provide any details or information about al-Adel or Makkawi.

The new body is replacing Egypt's State Security apparatus, which was dissolved after the toppling of Hosni Mubarak.

Social networking sites, meanwhile, were bubbling with people claiming to be the real Saif al-Adel. None has claimed to be the real Makkawi yet.

Although the FBI says it has only listed Makkawi as one of al-Adel's aliases ? not necessarily mistaken him for al-Adel ? it is not entirely clear how someone gets off the FBI's 'most wanted' list, even if the name is just the alias, not the face, on the poster.

"The individuals listed on the FBI Most Wanted Terrorist page will remain wanted in connection with their alleged crimes until such time as they have been arrested, charges are dropped or when credible physical evidence is obtained, which proves with 100 percent accuracy, that they are deceased," the FBI said.

Study finds more pollution at beaches nationwide (AP)

LOS ANGELES ? Those envisioning July 4 celebrations at the beach may be swimming at their own risk according to a new study that found the number of beach closures nationwide due to dirty water soared last year.

The Natural Resources Defense Council, which released its annual report Wednesday, found that beach closures and advisories across the country increased by 29 percent in 2010 compared to a year earlier. The conservation group used data from 3,000 locations nationwide and found that waters in Louisiana, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan had the highest levels of contamination.

"It's a summer rite of passage," said David Beckman, a senior attorney who directs the nonprofit's water program. "Unfortunately it can also make you sick."

Eleven percent of California's beaches reported elevated levels of bacterial contamination, the largest amount in five years. Among those at the top of the list were Avalon Beach, Cabrillo Beach and Colorado Lagoon in Los Angeles County, Poche County Beach and Doheny State Beach in Orange County and Candlestick Point in San Francisco County.

Most bacterial contamination occurs during winter, when heavy rains overload storm drains and sewage systems, washing waste into the sea.

Swimming in such pollution can cause gastrointestinal, respiratory and other illnesses and is of particular risk for children and the elderly whose immune systems may not be as strong. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that up to 3.5 million people become ill from contact with raw sewage from overflows every year.

Swimmers are advised not to swim near storm drains or go into the waters within 72 hours of a rain when pollution levels are typically higher.

Who Should Appeal A Parking Ticket Fine?

When a parking ticket greets you upon returning to your car, it is never a nice feeling particularly because the fine amounts are huge in amount. The options that you have are either paying the fine or appealing the ticket. Now, in case you completely ignore the ticket, the council will send bailiffs around to collect the same from you in which case the bailiff charges would also get added to your fine amount making it cost you a fortune.

With the financial hardship all around you need to save as much money as you can and hence, the path of appealing is becoming more and more popular. The maximum that you?ve got to lose in this option is the mere price of a postage stamp and the required time to send an email to the local council.

Remember not to pay the fine before you appeal as this straightaway translates into giving up your right to appeal in legal terms. If you have paid by credit card then at least you have the option of asking the credit card company to make a charge reversal but otherwise you would have to go to a small claims court and this should be within 6 years of getting the parking ticket.

The first step from your end would be to look for the postage or email address given on the parking ticket where you need to send your appeal letter.

Most motorists wrongly think of the appeal letter to be a lengthy and extremely complicated while in reality it is not so at all. You just need to write a short, simple and basic letter to get your parking ticket cancelled.

Draft your appeal letter in short and simple paragraphs taking care not come across as rude or using too much technical terms. Be polite and make it an easy read for the reader being to the point as much as possible.

The introductory paragraph should be all about the fact that you have been issued a ticket wrongly and that you want to appeal for the same.

* I was not driving at that point of time

* The car was stolen

* The traffic warden must have got it wrong as I never committed the offence.

* The signage wasn?t enough

* There was mitigating circumstances e.g. break down.

* I simply do not have enough money for the fine

If you happen to have additional reasons, add them on for more support.

Evidence particularly photographs and points of law can be useful.

The photo copies of the evidences along with the letter should be sent through recorded delivery.

If there exists confusion in your mind regarding how to appeal, whether to appeal or not or whether you would win at all, it is time that you choose your path of action amidst the following two. Either you now spend hours of research on the internet regarding this or take the help from an online company in appealing your parking ticket. They would also be in a position to provide you with all the information you need on the subject.

These companies may help you personally too. About two third of the motorist win such appeals. With professional help, the chance of winning is 100 per cent.

The chances of you winning is so much merely because most of the parking tickets issued by the traffic wardens have no legal basis and since the local councils always keep the wardens under pressure to ticket motorists as much as possible. Your parking fine is just one of the attractive sources of extra revenue generation for the councils.

Hence, majority of the parking tickets are not legally valid and if you just take the initiative to appeal, then there?s high chance that you?ll win the case, as does 70% of all motorists. Remember, it your own hard earned money that is getting wasted instead of being used to experience a grand show or a great dining experience somewhere. So you need to fight against the unjust system in order to save it.

Look at your parking ticket, how to appeal and the postal and email addresses to send your appeal letters to is clearly stated on it.

Strong arm offers new life to young Indians (Reuters)

NEW DELHI (Reuters) ? Young men all over India are flexing their muscles in the hope that a strong arm will carry them into a money-spinning career in professional baseball in the United States.

Despite the lack of a baseball tradition in India, the dream is not an impossible one, as Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel proved in a tale that is being immortalised in a Walt Disney film.

Singh beat 35,000 rivals three years ago in a talent-hunt in India dubbed "The Million-Dollar Arm" (TMDA) and is tipped to break into Major League Baseball (MLB) after a spell with the minor-league Pittsburg Pirates.

Patel, second in the throwing contest, also earned a contract with the Pirates and, after a lucrative stint in the U.S. which included a meeting with President Barack Obama, is back home looking for a coaching job.

Now, India is looking for someone to follow in their footsteps, with the second TMDA contest beginning in Bangalore last week and due to trawl 60 cities, towns and villages in search of potential baseball talent.

"India's rural belt has unbelievable potential," said Vivek Daglur, vice president of Turn On, TMDA's official partner in India.

"So many are pursuing sports just to get a job in the army or the railways. Their dedication is unbelievable. Some I met could afford only one meal a day but still ran 20 kms just to be a marathon runner.

"TMDA is the perfect platform for anyone with that simple thing. You just need to have a strong arm, nothing else. There are tremendous possibilities that we would take you and sculpt a champion out of you."

The last contest changed the lives of Singh, son of a truck driver, and Patel, whose father was unemployed. Both were javelin throwers nursing Olympic dreams before they won the chance to leave their homes near the north Indian holy city of Varanasi and go to the U.S.

OBAMA VISIT

"I don't know how to put it in words; I'm still living the dream," the soft-spoken Patel told Reuters by telephone.

"I had not even seen a baseball before turning up for that talent show. Suddenly I found myself training in Los Angeles," the 23-year-old added, briefly hesitating before abandoning broken English for fluent Hindi.

"One day, we went to Washington to meet President Barack Obama. You don't get such opportunities. I did not say much, just met him, shook his hand and told him we are baseball players from India.

"He said something in English...we gave him a jersey with his name on the back."

Patel said he was proud to have been a pioneer.

"It gives me tremendous satisfaction that we started the trend and many now dream of following us. Mark my words, you would soon have more Indians playing professional baseball.

"Already our story has spread far and wide and all the boys in my village are excited about TMDA's second season. In fact, most youngsters who have read about us want to have a go at it. After all, baseball offers incredible money.

"I expect Rinku soon to make it to the major league and that would draw more youngsters to baseball. We started the game so late, practised for about six months and were picked (by the Pirates). If an under-16 boy is picked and trained, I'm sure he would make it to the major league by the time he is 20 or 21."

Daglur said the pair had lived out a rags-to-riches fairy tale.

"They didn't know English and walked into the White House and presented a jersey to the U.S. president. Now, even someone like (top Bollywood actor) Shah Rukh Khan can't meet Obama like that," he said.

"At times I wonder if these kids actually realise the extent of their achievement."

FILM RIGHTS

Singh was primed for greater glory, Daglur agreed.

"Rinku is doing extremely well. There is a very good chance that he would make it to the major league in the next two years, which would be unbelievable.

"Even when they were practising in the U.S., some top players would come down to Los Angeles to see if these guys really existed or if it was just a story floating around.

"Sony Corporation bought the initial movie rights and then Walt Disney bought it from them. So Walt Disney is now making a movie on them," Daglur added.

"The scriptwriter was in India last month and he came to Delhi and visited Dinesh's house in Varanasi... it's going to be a better film than 'Slum Dog Millionaire' and should be released by the end of next year.

"Rinku could not believe it when he got his first cheque of $100,000. With MLB deciding to train the talent-hunt winners in its Beijing academy, Indian players now have a global market and not just the U.S."

Patel did not reveal the amount of his first cheque but said he had spent his money on his family.

"I married off my sister, renovated the house and built a proper bathroom," he said. "I also bought another plot for a new house. Now I want to buy a bike for my brother, a good one."

New Firefox Vision Aims To Find Content in New Ways (NewsFactor)

The Mozilla Foundation has released a new vision statement for its Firefox browser. The goal is to inspire developers to construct a browser environment for users to interact with web sites, apps and people in a personalized and secure way without relying on search engines and mobile-app stores.

Over the past several quarters, the Firefox community has revamped its development and release model to increase the pace of innovation, noted Firefox Vice President Jay Sullivan. "Now that we have a solid base to work from, and greatly improved agility, it's a good time to look at the quickly evolving landscape and chart our path forward," he wrote in a developer e-mail.

Sullivan's release of the new Firefox vision statement Monday is meant to inspire developers to fundamentally rethink the role of the browser in discovering web sites, apps and people. "To enable this, we will look for the opportunities made possible by being alongside each person who travels the web to understand more about intent and personal preferences," Sullivan wrote.

Bypassing Search-Engine Discovery

Search giants and social-networking sites have largely taken over the content-discovery role for which users previously looked to their browsers, Sullivan noted. So the next step for Firefox is to build in intelligence to automatically discover and present personalized content.

This would let Firefox users avoid the barrage of advertising and irrelevant content served up by today's search giants and social networks. To make this happen, however, developers need to build browser designs that can intelligently analyze information about a user's web-surfing history and contacts with trusted users while ensuring privacy and security.

"I think Mozilla is in a position to shake things up a bit," said Al Hilwa, director of applications development software at IDC. "With the competition from Google coming on strong, and upstarts like RockMelt experimenting with different formulas, I think it is the right thing for Mozilla to do this."

A Shot Across the Bow for Apps Stores

Personalized content discovery is only the beginning, Sullivan wrote. Firefox's focus will be on delivering not only client software, but also a web-based service able to address the growing number of device form factors and OS interface conventions.

"Web developers need to easily build experiences that are cross-platform -- they should work in major modern browsers, including smartphones and tablets," Sullivan wrote. So he is asking developers for ideas on how to "simplify the ways in which we organize and track the web pages and apps we use -- history, bookmarks, tabs, windows, tab groups, etc."

Mozilla also intends to enable Firefox to directly serve as the ecosystem for mobile-app developers to connect with their customers without sharing revenues with app stores that decide which apps are worthy. Future Firefox releases also may give users the ability to directly share their content discoveries, insights and inspirations with others.

"The browser is a natural place to be able to follow and share," Sullivan wrote. "Firefox can play a key role in how we connect with each other."

Hearts urged to sack sex crime player | Zaykar Global Ventures

Charity Children 1st has called for Hearts player Craig Thomson to be sacked after he was put on the sex offenders register.

The 20-year-old has been convicted for indecent behaviour towards two girls aged 12 and 14 on the internet.

The club said they were keeping the player as there were mitigating circumstances which provided assurance his conduct would not be repeated.

Children 1st insisted Hearts need to look again at the issue.

The charity's policy manager Kate Higgins told BBC Radio 5 live: "We believe that Hearts football club needs to look again at this situation, not taking action to protect children from the risk of sexual harm is unacceptable.

"Allowing convicted sex offenders to continue working where they will have direct and indirect contact with children is wrong."

Thomson was placed on the sex offenders register earlier this month after pleading guilty to two charges of indecent behaviour.

He was also fined ?4,000 for his lewd, libidinous and indecent behaviour towards two girls, aged 12 and 14, over the internet.

Hearts said it would go through the "necessary internal procedures relating to the case".

On Friday the Scottish Premier League club said Thomson's "grave error of judgement" was due to "naivety and possible wrong outside influence".

The full-back resumed training at the club with immediate effect.

He issued an apology via the club website, saying that he is "fully aware that I have let everyone down".

Hearts posted two statements on the matter on their website. The first read: "The club views this matter very seriously and does not condone the behaviour of the player. Appropriate action to prevent any further development of unlawful activities has been taken.

"In reaching this decision, the club accepted that there are sufficient mitigating circumstances that provide significant assurance that the player's conduct, no matter how distasteful, was the result of a grave error of judgement due to naivety and possible wrong outside influence rather than anything more sinister and it will not be repeated."

Then, early on Friday evening, the club issued another statement which refers to "outside influences on players and the club".

China's Wen, Cameron sign trade deals worth £1.4bn (AFP)

LONDON (AFP) ? Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and British Prime Minister David Cameron signed trade deals worth ?1.4 billion at a summit on Monday as Wen batted away questions about his country's rights record.

The two men shook hands for the cameras before holding talks with senior officials from both sides at Downing Street, the second formal meeting of the two leaders following Cameron's visit to Beijing in November.

"I am delighted that today's summit has seen new deals signed worth ?1.4 billion ($2.2 billion or 1.6 billion euros)," the British leader told reporters at a joint press conference afterwards.

As part of wide-ranging discussions, Cameron said he had discussed China's human rights record with Wen, who flew into Britain late Saturday as part of a European tour just as Beijing released high-profile rights activist Hu Jia.

But Wen said there should not be "finger-wagging" at China over human rights.

The men also discussed the ongoing NATO military operations in Libya, in which Britain is playing a lead role.

In a rare comment, Wen said China was talking to both sides because the conflict would only be resolved by Libyans themselves, adding: "Foreign troops may be able to win war in a place, but they can hardly win peace."

Since taking office in May last year, Cameron's coalition government has made boosting trade with China a priority, and wants to increase bilateral trade to $100 billion a year by 2015.

Britain is scrambling to catch up with European rivals Germany and France, the latter of which secured contracts worth $20 billion for French firms last year.

Wen is due to visit Germany after he leaves Britain later Monday.

The new British deals concern the reopening of the Chinese poultry market for British exports, which was halted after a bird flu outbreak in Britain, and a deal to supply breeding pigs to China.

A small crowd of protesters gathered outside Downing Street for the talks, brandishing posters reading "Cameron and Wen: human rights before trade" and "Free Tibet", while a similarly sized pro-China demonstration gathered nearby.

Asked about China's rights record, Cameron said: "We should show each other respect. But we're very clear that political and economic development should go hand in hand, that one supports the other."

But Wen batted off any implied criticism.

"On human rights, China and the UK should respect each other, respect the facts, treat each other as equals, engage in more co-operation than finger-pointing and resolve our differences through dialogue," he said.

The release of 37-year-old activist Hu, jailed on subversion charges in April 2008, was widely seen as a move to defuse tensions over human rights, and followed the release on bail last week of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei.

Wen is in Britain as part of a three-nation European tour intended in part to shore up support for the eurozone. On the first leg in Hungary, he agreed to buy government bonds, and said this showed China's confidence in the currency.

Also during the visit, China's central bank chief, Zhou Xiaochuan, voiced support for French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde's bid to lead the International Monetary Fund, in Beijing's first public statement on the issue.

On his first full day in Britain on Sunday, Wen visited a car plant in Longbridge, Birmingham, central England, which is owned by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC), China's largest automaker.

He launched the first new MG car to be made in 15 years, the MG6 model, hailing it as a potent symbol of friendship between London and Beijing.

He also visited Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon, where he watched a brief performance from Hamlet. On Monday, he said the bard was one of the "greatest geniuses in our world".

Buy Console Games How to Choose Your First Playstation Controller

You have a spanking new Playstation 3 in your room.

You have a spanking new Playstation 3 in your room. The so-called gaming experts tell you that you'll enjoy playing more with a new controller, but how do you know which one is the best for you? If you're having a hard time choosing, here are a couple of things you should know about Playstation controllers.

SIXASIS Wireless Controller
The new SIXASIS wireless controller from Playstation 3 is a joy to watch. It's simple to install and compatible with most TV sets and PC monitors used today. Charging is a breeze: how can it be any way else when its USB cable, which is connected to your gaming console, automatically charges your controller to ensure uninterrupted use?

Its Bluetooth 2.0 Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) technology makes it capable of reading your movements the same way Nintendo Wii's Nunchuk reads player movements. Thus, when you move, your character moves exactly the same way!

The SIXAXIS wireless controller Playstation, which is used for the analog joy stick and R2/L2 functions of your controller, has more to offer with a 10-bit rate compared to the 8-bit rate offered by other controllers.

Button shape for L2/R2 has been modified to increase stroke depth and improve game control. Tilting angle has also been broadened to provide better and more accurate dynamic manipulation.

DUALSHOCK 3 Wireless Controller
Another alternative for replacing the stock controller of your PS3 would be the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller. Like the SIXAXIS wireless controller, its predecessor, it allows up to seven players to play simultaneously either in co-op or versus mode. It does, however, offer new features and improvements that are not available with the SIXAXIS wireless controller.

The most important improvement you'll enjoy with the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller results from a slight but significant change with its controller buttons. Made more pressure-sensitive, they are designed to give players an accurate and wide-ranging experience, making you feel every bump, crash, or explosion that your character encounters.

Wireless Keypad
Now, Sony Playstation 3, like other new generation gaming consoles today, is designed to perform various multimedia functions besides gaming. For this reason, you might find yourself in need of a different type of controller altogether, such as a wireless keypad.

It comes with Bluetooth capabilities, enabling to instantly connect with your wireless SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 controller. The Wireless keypad for PS3 makes it easier for players to send text and email messages. Its one-of-a-kind touch pad also makes scrolling and mouse-input for your PS3 simpler and more convenient.

Give these controllers a try and see which ones suit your needs best. Who knows? You might need all three!

Nowitzki makes baseball pitch NBA style (AFP)

ARLINGTON, Texas (AFP) ? Dirk Nowitzki, the German playmaker who led the Dallas Mavericks to an NBA Finals victory, carried a basketball to the pitcher's mound for his ceremonial opening pitch at a baseball game.

The Texas Rangers, who lost their Major League Baseball championship bid last year in the World Series to San Francisco, gave Nowitzki the honor of making the ceremonial toss following the Mavericks' dream title run.

Nowitzki, the Most Valuable Player of the championship series, stepped back and flipped a jump shot with the basketball toward home plate as the crowd roared.

Then Nowitzki pulled a baseball out of his pocket and delivered a pitch to home plate baseball style, making a high leg kick and hurling the ball so high over the plate that Michael Young of the Rangers had to leap high to grab it.

"I had a little more work in on the jumper, so I think it was a little more fluent," Nowitzki said.

"The only thing I wanted to do on the pitch was not keep it low. I kept it a little high, but it was better than a bounce."

Nowitzki, still wearing a splint on the middle finger of his left hand after being injured in the opening game of the finals, plans to fly to Germany on Saturday. He has not decided about playing for Germany in 2012 Olympic qualifying this summer.

"I'm going to do some vacation first and get away from everything," Nowitzki said. "It has been kind of non-stop obviously after we won it. It has been hard to get some rest, so I'm going to do some vacation, let it go through my mind, and then we'll kind of see how it goes."

What type of cancer is it when you have a brain tumor? | Bone ...

What type of cancer is it when you have a brain tumor?

I think it is a brain cancer.

Cancers occur when one type of cell transforms and loses its normal characteristics. Once transformed, the cells grow and multiply in abnormal ways.
As these abnormal cells grow, they become a mass of cells, or tumor, so the brain tumor in your friends brain has caused brain cancer.
I hope your friend gets better. :)

There are over 100 types of brain cancers!?..Benign tumors grow and so do Malignant ones?.it is hard to answer your question.

There are a number of types of cancer that can cause brain tumours. If you want to know which one your friend has, you will have to ask her.

Anything that can affect the brain or grow in it is called a brain tumor. It isn?t necessarily cancer. If it is growing, it needs attention.

A lot of ?brain tumors? are meningiomas which grow outside the brain and inside the skull and are very, very common. They are almost always benign and only need attention if they grow and crowd the brain.

The most commen form of cancerous brain tumor is called a glioblastoma.

Cancer cells can go anywhere through the blood or lymphatic system and metastasize in organs or other parts of the body. I have had 2 brain tumors from melanoma metastasis.

Every brain tumor is not cancer and many are not.
Just about any kind of cancer can be found in the brain. It can be a brain primary or spread to the brain form somewhere else in the body.
