Five Tips for the Perfect Dinner Party - Legacy Writers

It is not difficult to throw the perfect dinner party, it just takes a bit of organisation and forward planning.? You may decide to dine alfresco and sit out on the outdoor pavers on your outdoor furniture, or you can eat indoors in your formal dining room, the choice is Perfect Dinner Partyentirely up to you, but think about what sort of evening you have in mind.? For a more formal evening you might choose to use your dining room, and for a casual summer party the outdoors may be more appropriate.? What you serve to eat and drink is your other main concern, and if you entertain often you might want to think about having a water filter installed so you can always have fresh pure water on tap.

Guest list?

Think about who you are going to invite and how many people.? Work out how many you can seat comfortably first and then make your list of people to invite.? Depending on your circumstances, if you are single, you might want to invite an equal number of single men and women, friends who might not necessarily all know each other.? You could invite friends and then have them invite a friend of their own who is new to you so you can make new friends.? You may choose to invite an interesting combination of people who you can be confident will strike up great conversations.

Seating plan

Once you have found out who is coming you can then work on your seating plan.? You don?t have to seat couples together, instead you can mix people up so they can get to know each other better.? You don?t necessarily have to make a seating plan but by doing so you can orchestrate the dynamics of the evening.

Menu?

Get hints and tips for the perfect menu from cook books as well as magazines.? The internet also has millions of recipes so you will be sure to find the perfect meal for your guests.? You can either cook up your old favourites or plan your menu based around the season.? Cook warming rich stews in winter or serve seafood and salads in summer.? You could also choose a theme for your menu and have an evening of Indian or Mexican food or try cooking some fancy French or Italian dishes.

Dress?

Let your guests know what the dress code is for the evening.? Even though it is a party at home it doesn?t mean that your guests should turn up in a tracksuit or jeans.? Make it a bit special by asking guests to dress up a little or get some use out of your formal wear and have everyone wear a suit and tie or cocktail dress.? You could even choose a theme and have a 1920s gangster night, a Bollywood spectacular or a Medieval dinner, complete with large platters of meats and decadent desserts.? Make your evening a bit of fun as well as a catch up with friends.

Include the cook?

Make sure the cook isn?t hidden away in the kitchen preparing the meal and missing out on the evening.? If you have an open planned kitchen and meals area move the table so it is close to where the food is being prepared.? If the kitchen is hidden away from the guests perhaps you can have the meal cooked and keep it warm in a slow cooker or heated serving tray.? You could also have someone else who isn?t a guest to either do the cooking for you, or at least be in charge of serving up the meal so that the cook can take time out of the kitchen.
