Survey reveals need specific tests for syphilis early infection ...

The survey also shows that the majority of respondents treat patients with HIV who have secondary syphilis with three injections of penicillin week, although there is no evidence of improved outcomes for dealing with more than one injection. Doctors with experience in the management of syphilis than were more likely to treat with a recommended injection, suggesting that physicians with less experience in managing syphilis may lack the confidence that management has established adequate guidelines to prevent adverse outcomes.Although syphilis is one of the oldest known diseases, most health professionals do not have access to evidence necessary for the reliable diagnosis in its early stages and more contagious. A recent study by specialists in infectious disease diagnosis and treatment of syphilis appears in the number of 15 November 2009, Clinical Infectious Diseases, now available online.

Now Koster and his colleagues have developed a way to do just that, to be presented Nov. 13 at a meeting of AVS in San Jose. They found a way to sterilize medical devices by sealing in vacuum bags and then put them in rooms that are even lower pressure. This causes the vacuum pack around the tools to eat. Then, using an electromagnetic field at a distance ignite a plasma inside the bag, killing bacteria and viruses in it. When the process is complete and the bag is removed from the chamber, the external pressure forces them to restrict the objects surrounding it again carefully sterilized hours, keeping them sealed

The definitive diagnosis of primary syphilis test is based on direct immunofluorescence or darkfield microscopy, both of which are often unavailable in clinical settings.

Blood tests are commonly used to diagnose syphilis, but these tests produce false negative in 20-30 % of primary syphilis, allowing the possibility of transmission in progress.
