Safety With Children And Swimming Pools ? Recreation and Sports

Ask any child if they like to go swimming in a swimming pool and they will almost always give you a resounding yes.On the other hand, accidental drowning especially among children is one grave reality that has caused grief to more than one family.always, it is too late for the adult to be remorseful of what happened. One always hears the words had I just been more watchful and focused my entire attention on him then this would not have happened.

As adults, we are accountable in making sure that children should not go near the pool, less alone swim in them, whenever there is no one around to watch over them.As an adult, it is your responsibility to take all the precautionary measures possible so that children will be safe.

Precautionary methods include:

1. Mounting a pool fence.
2. Making sure that the lock of the pool fence is beyond the children?s reach.
3. Installing a secure pool cover.
4. Installing pool lights.
5. Store lifesaving equipment (like a life preserver, first aid kit, shepherds hook, and a telephone, if possible) near the pool.
6. The portion around the pool should have a non-slip surface.
7. Rough housing in the pool should not be allowed.
8. Swimming alone is not allowed.
9. Use life vests that have been specifically designed for this purpose.

however, we sometimes forget that swimming pool chemicals can also pose as a hazard to children?s health.See that danger sign on the label? It is there for a reason and it should not be overlooked.

Precautionary measures for swimming pool chemicals include:

1. Double checking if the bottle or receptacle is properly and tightly sealed.
2. Totally unreachable to children by making sure that it is in a locked place.
3. Stored in a cool, dry place that is properly ventilated.

Make sure that no one takes a swim, particularly children, while the pool is being treated.Buying swimming pool chemical test kits and annually changing the chemicals that you use for the test kit is highly advisable.

Fundamentally, you can make children take swimming lessons for them to be ready whenever they take a swim but you could also take all the precautionary measures to be on the safe side.
