Norwegian International 2012: Sashina Vignes Waran grabs Women?s Singles title to steal limelight

France?s talented player Sashina Vignes Waran stole the limelight in the arena as she grabbed Women?s Singles title after defeating her higher ranked rival Linda Zetchiri of Bulgaria in the final encounter at Norwegian International 2012 on Sunday, November 18, in Norway.

The impressive Sashina, who was the fourth seeded player in the main draw of the event, employed all of her skills in the arena and remained successful in beating the top seeded Linda while taking 50 minutes on court.

French shuttler was not at her best in the opening set but she found a good flow in the following games and managed to register a decent win over Linda in three games with a reasonable margin on the board.

The higher ranked Linda, on the other hand, played well in the first game but failed to show aggression in the following sets losing the match in rubber games without creating a strong impact.

In the opening set, both ladies played well in the staring half and it was the Bulgarian who put up strong show and took a reasonable lead until the break.

After the break, the aggressive Sashina tried to reduce the deficit by playing aggressive badminton but she could not create pressure on her Bulgarian challenger and eventually lost the first game with a decent margin of 18-21.

In the second set, Sashina put up a staggering show of attacking and positive badminton as she took the bird early and occupied the driving seat and set up a huge lead until the one-minute break.

After the mid-game interval, the lower ranked Sashina continued her roller-coaster performance in the arena. She stayed fully focused and remained successful in winning the game with a stunning 21-11 score on the board.

In the decider, both shuttlers showed aggression form starting points and no one could set up a huge lead until the end of first half.

After the break, the incredible Sashina changed her tactics at net and started to employ deceptive shots with wonderful control. She managed to win the second set in a decent fashion with a margin of 21-17.

Sashina emerged as the crown winner by ending up the final battle in three games with a thrilling 18-21, 21-11 and 21-17 score on the board.
